Evansville Official Busted For Masturbating In Public Restroom

John Gerard, Center Township Assessor in Vanderburgh County, got caught with his pants down-for real. A plain clothes police officer caught Gerard, a Republican, masturbating in a public restroom at Claypool Court near Circle Centre Mall in downtown Indianapolis. The 51-year old Gerard was charged with public indecency and indecent exposure. Gerard is running for re-election this year. As luck would have it, the Democrats didn't bother to nominate a candidate in the May primary to run against him.

A few years back a school principal from New Albany, Denver McFadden, who was a member of the State Board of Education, was busted on similar charges in the same restroom while taking a break from a board meeting he was attending in Indianapolis.

I believe the Democratic County Chair (or Central Cmte) can appoint a party candidate for the fall election if nobody files for the primary ... or does the Chair merely have replacement power if a primary winner dies?

I believe either the county chairman or a caucus of the committeeman can fill the vacancy with a candidate if they act before June 30.

A warning to gay men: there is entrapment going on at Circle Center. An acquaintance of mine was ensnared, but as an immigrant (legal), he was scared of the system and didn't fight it.

If you are in a Circle Center restroom, DON'T exchange glances with men in the restrooms and don't talk to them. If they hit on you (which is what the cops are doing), don't suggest going home or elsewhere, and sure as hell don't do anything there, WALK AWAY. You will otherwise end up in handcuffs.

So was the guy masturbating in front of the cop or with the door open or was the cop peeking into stalls or what?

I know a family publication like the Star doesn't really want to get too graphic, but the missing details would really inform me as to whether the county official was the problem or the cop was the problem in this situation.

We'll never know--the vice cops working at Circle Center play loose with the truth, presenting a likely homophobic judge with the option of believing the cop or the queer.

All I know is the acquaintance I spoke of was approached by the cop, not the other way around, and there was no sex or masturbation involved. He (the acquaintance) has spoken candidly of other sexual escapades, so I don't think he had reason to lie about this one.

Moral of the story is cruising for sex is a dangerous sport, especially in Indiana, and the law doesn't play fair.

That's not real clear from the news report--only that he was doing it. When an Evansville TV station called his office and asked about it, the employees knew nothing of the arrest; only that there boss was in Indy for a meeting.

Jeff-I would not doubt that police officers sometimes entrap these guys, but let's face it--there are private clubs people can go to and engage in this type of conduct without risk of arrest. People should keep their sexual urges intact when they are in a public place, whether straight or gay.I'm frankly getting sick and tired of the obscene trolling by married men in the Jordan YMCA lockerroom. Frankly, I don't want to see some disgusting overweight married guy wanking in the sauna. I've personally reported one of the creeps there to a cop; he should have been busted. Instead, he was banned for a short time and then allowed back where he's doing the same disgusting things.

Oh, I don't disagree at all Gary. Public sex and whacking off is tacky and gross, and neither gay or straight people should have to be subjected to it.

But in the case I referred to at Circle Center, again assuming the acquaintance I mentioned was being truthful (which, if you heard some of this stuff he's admitted to I can't imagine he wasnt), the cop was in the wrong.

They did the gaydar thing with the eyes, cop approached acquaintance and asked if he wanted to "play." Acquaintance, who is no question promiscuous as all get-out, said "sure, but not here." He was promptly arrested.

Wonder how the scandal-wracked Vanderburgh GOP will handle this.

Gerard was a close advisor to Rep. Suzanne Crouch, who won a bruising primary against Jon Fulton.

The new chairperson, Connie Carrier, has not yet said anything about this incident.

Some people are wondering if she will try to sweep it under the rug, since her husband was picked up for soliciting a prostitute not that long ago.

What a sad state of affairs down there.

I was relieved to find out that the Evansville official busted for masturbating in a public restroom was a man.

From the language of the star article, it appears that he was observed by someone else, who then pulled the police in with a complaint.

I was a victim of this entrapment and I know it first hand. If anyone entrapped would like me to join them in a class action lawsuit against the gestapo police in Indy and the owners of Circle Center Mall and Claypool Courts and the circus media outlets, contact me at SportsRun@hotmail.com . I will be glad to be a witness in court to help anyone fight these obviously illegal police activities that are entrapping innocent people and ruining lives. IT HAS TO BE STOPPED!

The man simply had to get off. So what. It is like holding in a bowel movement or one's urine. If the man had a hard pecker, so be it.

Though who has not sin, cast the first stone people....you closet wankers!

Sorry, but I believe these cops do this because they're closeted queers who have an agenda of their own. What, you actually think that they're just going to volunteer their time for the "gay watch" because they're in it for "justice"? HAH! And yes, you're damn right they entrap people. I don't see any stories about straight boys being arrested jerking off for the ladies, and I know for a fact they do it all the time.
