Colts Lose Season Opener At The Oil Can

Playing in a brand new $700 million Lucas Oil Stadium wasn't enough to enable the Indianapolis Colts to win their first regular season game. The Chicago Bears pay back the Colts for their 2007 Super Bowl loss to the Colts, winning 29-13. This is a stunning setback for the Colts team, which has been plagued by player injuries. Manning started in the QB position despite his absence during the pre-season due to knee surgery. The past three seasons have seen nothing but wins for the Colts during the months of September and October. Hopefully, this doesn't portend a losing season in the new stadium.

I too want the Colts to win. But can you imagine how this city will turn on the Colts if they have a mediocre season? You hear how angry the people are at the Colts because of the stadium deal and the taxes people are paying for it. The only thing keeping the backlash against the Colts from turning into a tidal wave is a Super Bowl win and a Hall of Fame quarterback.

Lucas Oil Stadium, now known forever more as Da Bears' House!

Not as good as the Lombardi Trophy, but like that, its something that can never be taken away..1st touchdown? Bears! First victory? BEARS!!

Irsay and Peterson had to have a new stadium or the Colts would leave Indy for another city. Now thatthey have the new playground, they can play crappy because we (the taxpayers)are footing the bill and giving ALL the proceeds to Jim (where is my Oxy-Contin)Irsay.
Thanks to bart Peterson for sticking it Indy for at least 30 more years. Great legacy!!!

Oh, NOOO! They were 'never' threatening to go to LA (Wink, wink). We merely needed a new stadium to make room for convention space.

(I have a bridge for sale - real cheap. Interested?)

I have heard everything now...the Colts lose 1 game and it is Bart Peterson's fault. We are disappointed that they lost but it is only the first game and even if they dont make the super bowl, they are our NFL and we should remember that with pride......

7th CD, I like the way the Colts had to have a new stadium (where they could make more money) or they would leave. But we also had to pay the Colts $45 million for breaking the lease at the old stadium to move to the new stadium. I think the Indians negotiated a better deal when they sold Manhattan.
