They left fireworks where their 10 year old could get to them. It's interesting that as soon as a parent gives (or gives access to) their young child fireworks and the kid hurts him or herself all of the liberals are up in arms oer how unsafe fireworks are, and that we need to ban them. Take sparklers for example (most injries each year are from burns from sparklers). Parents give very young children pieces of metal that can reach in excess of 500 degrees. Yet when a child gets burned people blame the sparklers. If the parent had given their 5 year old a soldering iron, people would call them unfit to have children...no one would call for a fireworks ban. Basically, people are too irresponsible to handle fireworks without threatening others. While some may focus on the injury to the 10-year old here, I would focus on the fact that a 10-year old was shooting off fireworks that can injure others in the first place. As I understood from viewing the report, the family had purchased the fireworks and planned to let them off under the supervision of the boy's father. The kids got into them and begin letting them off on their own without their parents' knowledge.Gary R.
