The gist of the story is a massive leak of documents from a Panama-based law firm that specializes in creating offshore shell companies. The documents reveal billions of dollars being funneled to offshore tax havens by leading governmental and corporate officials in numerous countries. The leak is 11.5m files from the database of the world’s fourth biggest offshore law firm, Mossack Fonseca.<br /><br />The US as has been said is oddly missing, but supposedly that will change shortly. <br /><br />The article states I read - The crux of this activity — placing assets offshore in order to avoid incurring tax liability — has been legalized.
