I don't know any more. I would almost argue that the Republican party draws away fiscally conservative voters from the Libertarian party.

I mean, after the past 7 years nobody really thinks the Republicans are still the party of small government, less spending and low taxes, right?

And we're talking about the same party that is on the verge of making John McCain the top of their ticket? John "heck with the first amendment, no to the bush tax cuts" McCain??

I am reminded of the quote "I didn't leave the Republican Party, it left me."

Melyssa, I've told you in the past how I feel about Libertarian candidates in Marion County races. They are spoilers. They simply draw off votes from Republican candidates to help elect Democrats. Numerous candidates in Marion County can attribute their losses in races here locally over the past decade to the Libertarian candidate. A voter has a right to support whoever they want for elective office. They should always consider whether their vote is accomplishing the exact opposite of what they hope to achieve with it.

I hope Indiana Equality will invite Sean Sheperd, who is the Libertarian candidate selected to run for the special election, to the forum. Sean is an excellent speaker.

Sean was on the forefront of many of last year's tax protests including the ones at the Governor's mansion, Black Sunday Rally, the City Council protests, the Indiana Tea Parties, and he was involved in our activist meetings. I do not recall seeing either Jon Elrod or Andre Carson at any of these important events.

I personally know Sean very well from my work with the Fair Tax. Sean and I planned the successful July meeting at Talbott Street for the Fair Tax 101 Volunteer Roundup educational event that was widely televised shortly after the tax crisis flared up.

Sean has stated many times that he wants the government out of our marriages and personal relationships. He is one of the state directors for the Fair Tax and will undoubtedly co-sponsor HR 25, the Fair Tax in Congress.
