If you look at the Black Expo schedule for other major cities, it is on a Thur & Fri, and in a few cases, Thur, Fri, & Sat.
ONLY in this city is it 11 days long.

DI, I agree. Pat Andrews over at Had Enough Indy? has an excellent post about a crime fighting grant Indianapolis Downtown Inc.

Last time I checked, IDI was not a law enforcement agency or some type of community outreach program that deals with at-trouble youth or recently released convicts or whatever. They're a not-for-profit that promotes tourism.

"The Mayor's answer is to add more police officers to the point we now have more than a quarter of the entire police force assigned to maintain order during the event, an exercise that costs taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars annually".
Police are detailed to events and overtime paid for auto races, sporting events and who knows what else.
It's time for the City to start billing for the cost for these events instead of taxpayers.
How is it that private businesses operate, bring in millions of dollars to these events each year and not get billed for police services?
If private businesses paid for police security, maybe the City would not have to think about down sizing the horse patrol, bicycle patrol, and the helicoptor support of the police department

First of all, Gary, I commend you for having the moral courage to say what needs to be said. Our newspaper managed by a Left Coast Editor shut down all comments on the shootings immediately upon posting a much more liberal, watered down version of the mayhem that took place.

Einstein said the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect different results. Expo does the same thing over and over....and GETS the same results: riotous mayhem!
