Denying science though will get a candidate for the office of President some bad press. But the religious influences that Bachmann claims are way out there.

I'm not so sure it's "The Left" that's blindly supporting Obama. It seems to me like mainstream Democrats and centrist independents support Obama. "The Left" is just as disappointed in his continuation of the Bush wars, Bush tax cuts, and lukewarm push for liberal social issues. "The Left" is also disappointed by Obama's willingness to dismantle the social safety net. It's nice to think that Obama is a lefty socialist, but the left doesn't seem to be all that excited about him, as far as I can tell.

The relatives are an issue, Bob, because they were put front and center in the book Bill Ayers ghost wrote for him, "Dreams From My Father." They have been in the country illegally for many years. The aunt even obtained welfare benefits. She filed a completely bogus asylum claim that an immigration judge rightfully rejected many years ago. Because of the fame of their famous relative, suddenly the relative gets a complete reversal of her earlier asylum claim, even though the Obama clan in Kenya is treated like royalty by the government there because of their famous American relative. As an immigration lawyer, it really irritates me when I see special treatment being affored to his family relatives that are not being afforded to other persons legimitately seeking immigration benefits.

I don't even support Bachmann for president, but it doesn't take much thought to figure out that she is being unfairly vilified by the media. Bob, you know far more about Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, etc. than you even begin to know about Obama. "Dreams From My Father" has been proven to be full of fiction. Any time anyone seeks any information about his biographical narrative they are accused of being racists. Never before in the history of this country has there been such a great effort to keep key details of a president's life under lock and key. Why?

DMC has a point: You make really wild accusations about President Obama, and smear him at every opportunity no matter how weak (an uncle was arrested for a DUI... Really?!?) You also never acknowledged the editing of the conversation with the NPR executive-even though you featured it on your blog.

All that aside - It's Bachmann's religious beliefs that she was there to speak about... and they are scary as hell. Far worse than any manufactured controversy about "Whitey".

Normally in my view, religious beliefs are personal. However Bachmann has made her religious beliefs a centerpiece of her campaign and therefore fair game.
She is nuttier than a fruitcake and dangerous. Read the article about her in the New Yorker or listen to the interview by Terry Gross on Fresh Air.
