I'm still confused, but trying...seriously, I'm not a goof, but this issue is important. It will undoubtedly get thrown in our faces in the next legislative session.

I read many other accounts of this Ohio court ruling, and not all agree.

Generally, is is true that:

By defining a "couple," Ohio has cleaned up their domestic violence statutes, to avoid getting cases dismsised because of the sloppiness of their anti-marriage law? And that such clarification would not have been required were it not for the SJR7-type law in Ohio?

If Bopp is so confident in how SJR-7 will be interpreted, why did he have Sen. Brendt Hershman, the sponsor of SJR-7, try to backdoor a re-write of Indiana's domestic violence statute to get around the problem this past session?

The end result in this case is good, but the way the court got there is not good. It's never good in my opinion when judges substitute the clear language of a constitution or statute for their own interpretation of what the drafters intended.

I read the headline, Gary, and thought I'd be pleased. After a week or so of nasty property tax news, I hoped this would pick me up.

After reading it twice, I'm foggy.
Long day--and that may be the reason.
