GW, I agree, a Democrat running statewide has two strikes on him given how Republican this state is. Marion County on the other hand is an increasily solid Democratic county. The D for Mayor next time will be a solid favorite.

I have to like the issues Mahern is addressing. But frankly, I don't think the insiders who run this city regardless of party will want him raising thoe issues and putting a stop to their gravy train.

Um, Did you read the headline in the Star: "Is U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett eyeing a run for Indianapolis mayor?" He considered running for mayor this past year before he became U.S. Attorney. Running for mayor is a more winnable race for him than a statewide bid.
