Can you spell "overkill"? <BR/><BR/>Predjudice, by any other name would still reek, and that, along with power play from an obviously weak administrator who's reached his level of incompetentence, is the name of the game.<BR/><BR/>Unfortunately, this incidence isn't confined to Indiana. It is, in fact, rampant among US schools across the nation. Events like this are why thousands of good, genuinely quality teachers are leaving teaching in droves. It is also the reason why at least one teacher I know went to law school and is now an attorney determined to advocate for teachers like Ms. Sorell. Even with the NEA, many teachers struggle to pay bills and get little support from their schools. I'm the son of 2 retired Indiana teachers, and I know for a fact how terribly many Indiana teachers are treated by admins who often have little actual educational experience who will do anything to keep the schools looking shiny for the public. <BR/><BR/>It took my parents teaching for over 20 years to reach the pay their peers were making in the private sector. Only when they reached retirement age were they making decent money.<BR/><BR/>Despite being favorites among parents, both my folks got flack from admin overlords for taking away their glory and being smarter than their bosses. The principals aren't teachers, and are far too often detached from reality and what goes on the classroom, and the hassles both teachers and parents have to face.Jay C. Their system of licensing and administration is archaic and self-policing. Stupid decisions abound. Then, they circle the wagons and defend one another.<BR/><BR/>She'll get another job elsewhere. Yeah, her life is turned upside down. She'll win a national press freedom award or two, and if she were smart, she'd write a screenplay.<BR/><BR/>BTW, Yoder is a pretty significant name in those neck of the woods.
