Yes, Gary, politicians quitting prior to their term expiration so that their Party machine Managers can name a replacement who can then run as an incumbent is getting old. But this is a trick the Marion County GOP and the Indiana State GOP have long employed. I believe that one reason the establishment Republicans wanted Dick Lugar back for yet another term was to eventually get him to retire him early and substitute another political chess pawn of theirs to run in the future.

There is no "Democrat" Party and there is no "Republican" Party but the one group of power and privilege seekers I call the "Demopublicans".
