I'm not saying his mother fabricated or didn't fabricate anything -- how would I know what a mother told her son miles and years away? (How would you?)

I'm saying, the truths taken from an experience that really count lie not in a chronology but in the values transferred and lived generation to generation. Obama has taken the truths from his mother's actions, hopes and dreams and achieved a worthy productive life. Like he is urging our schoolchildren to do.

interested party, I wish the media were that forgiving in its coverage of Republicans as you suggest in recounting a person's life accomplishments. Everything Sarah Palin had done in her life was re-spun by the liberal media to denigrate her in every respect. What you're really saying is there is a double standard for judging Obama because he's a "minority" and I agree with his political views. I've never misrepresented key facts of my childhood to anyone because my parents engrained in me the importance of telling the truth. Yes, Obama's mother probably fabricated stories to make her boy feel good, but as an adult, he had the opportunity to find out the facts for himself and properly account for her misrepresentations to him. He weaved a story based on running for president. I believe he did not write "Dreams From My Father." Bill Ayers is the likely author of that book. People have noted the uncanny similar writing style of that book to Ayers' published works.

The sad fact of the matter is that whatever YOU people call yourselves, you still don't give answers. You fail to give solutions to the problems we face everyday. Has anyone offered any suggestions to how I can obtain affordable health care? lol NOPE! Didn't think so. A teacher/mentor of mine once said (paraphrase), "The stories in our lives that we hold on to and that make meaning for us and help us become who we are may not have happened just the way we remember them. What we do remember is how we were impacted and what we took away from the experience that we carry on." Perhaps this is one explanation for what you describe as the incorrect "facts". Can you see anything in your formative periods that could be similar? In my family, we have as many "versions" of a happening as we have people telling the story. Yet we are all recounting the same influencer. That Obama grew up to make something productive of his life may be the result of the gist of his early life experiences, not the sum total of every single detail.

There are many children who lack people in their lives to inspire them and urge them to aspire to higher things. This is something to try to rectify, thus we have those who do what they can - befriend a youth, be a Big Brother or Big Sister, tutor at a local school, take an interest in a neighbor child. I have done some of that, but I could do more. The President did what he could to reach children in need of hope and aspiration and knowing someone is interested in them. What have you done?

Once again, liberals completely ignore the fact that the president is LYING to children about his past. Or was he LYING in the books he wrote about himself? Or is he LYING now?

Just sit back and relax, folks. Barack Obama is only performing a routine presidential duty that has been performed by presidents for generations. There's nothing to be afraid of. He's not trying to turn your babies into mini Marxists. This isn't the Trotsky For Toddlers program. The president of the United States merely wants to have a heart to heart talk with the children of America about the importance of a good education, that's all.
