That is in the police officer's discretion, and often, if the officer has any doubt, (s)he is encouraged to radio a supervisor for direction.<br /><br />Rarely, if ever, in such a call for supervisor, is the identity of the person(s) given. It's usually a close call, and it often involves the officer(s) time remaining on duty, workload overall, number of pending runs, etc.<br /><br />A detective usually interviews participants and in a few days, as in the Rio incident, refers the case for charges or does nothing.<br /><br />This orderly process was followed in the Club Rio case. Last night, it appears, from info available, that some of the participants were gone when IMPD arrived. All the more reason to assign a detective.<br /><br />I'm done with the Pacers. They are obviously a ship gone awry.<br /><br />A few hours earlier, the same team rolled over on a weak Warriors team and lost by a ton. Stephen freaking Jackson had almost 40 points. Pacer defense, and effort, were AWOL, I was there. It was pitiful by any measure.<br /><br />They shouldn't have been celebrating. They should've been doing what Tony Dungy would've been doing at that time under similar circumstances: sleeping, praying, or, perhaps reviewing tapes.<br /><br />This is your team Bird. Act like it.
