He just doesn&#39;t understand that he was in a position of honor and trust, a position he abused for personal gain. <br /><br />-But his corruption goes deeper. How did such a person first get the job in law enforcement? Did he buy it with cash &amp; political favors? How did he get promoted? Did he buy promotions with cash (max out two credit cards) and political favors? <br /><br />Corruption is as corruption does. <br /><br />The trial proved that Lincoln Plowman betrayed the public trust with aggravating circumstances. He must be imprisoned because these facts are particularly heinous, victimized the public at large, betraying the public trust in its elected officials. Let us recall that in trial Plowman stated he believes he is &quot;owed&quot; the bribe money. <br /><br />Anything less than a fixed term depreciates the seriousness of the offense and would encourage other public officials to engage in corrupt behavior as there would be a showing that there is no &quot;real&quot; penalty, just a guilty finding.....for such betrayal of trust.<br /><br />A fixed term of imprisonment is the only fitting punishment.
