Kelley Kingston-Strayer, here, from Dallas, Texas. As the article shows, Dearborn county guards allowed my husband, Timothy, to deteriorate, not just over hours, but days. People out running around on every kind of PRESCRIBED antidepressant and pain killer known to man, driving alongside you, operating dangerous equipment at work, teaching your kids, patrolling your streets and highways, making your laws, practicing medicine. Meanwhile the pot users are thrown into jail and abused. And the best part is where it says right on the little sheet of paper that comes with the antidepressant that it is likely to give rise to thoughts of suicide or homicide. How is that an antidepressant? This type of thing happens all the type with privatized medical care in prisons and jail.<br /><br />They may not be aware that there is an Indiana jail regulation that says if you are detained in a jail (not a prison which of course is different), they must continue to provide you with the prescriptions you were taking when you entered the facility. This regulation is routinely ignored by private medical care providers at jails because expensive medicine cuts into their profits. They will often provide cheaper, and less effective medicine or no medicine at all. We kept bringing up the jail regulation in litigation, but the courts routinely just ignored it as did the Sheriff.Paul K.
