Yes, I am so tired of Republicans blaming Democrats and Democrats blaming Republicans. Both parties are to blame for everything. I think it's time we elect some people to office who don't owe anybody any favors. Then, we might actually have some elected officials who have the people's best interest in mind. As long as Democrats and Republicans are in charge of the state, (and the country for that matter) the people's well being will always be the lowest priority.

It is HIS fault! Why are the Simons taken care of on their downtown property? Why does Irsay get paid for 'breaking the contract on the dome' to get a brand NEW stadium? Why are TAXPAYERS buying millionaire Colts a new stadium at all?

It is simple: "Tax & Spend" Democrats are in control, scratch their back & you get what you want at the TAXPAYER expense!

I'm a Democrat who finds a lot of Gary's observations correct.

Pat Bauer is responsible for a great deal of this. He blocked or altered multiple bills that would've fixed a lot of these problems. Not all, but several.

And he's been there since, I think, 1974. That's long enough.
He succeeded his father, as I recall, who also never drew a private sector paycheck in his life.

It irks me that Bauer's legislative largesse, comes at our expense in every sense of the word. His opinions, his actions, his very being, are supported 100% by our tax dolalrs. His off-session job is for Ivy Tech.

If you can call it a "job."

At least Peterson made his fortune in the private sector. He understands what it takes to make a payroll.

And I'm pretty sure that the last legislative session or two, with those goofs, and their motivations, riled his soul mightily.

But there's only so much he can do.
He's made many errors in judgment during his mayoral terms, but overall, with the limitations placed on him, he has my vote. Easily.

I'm just hoping his own aprty doesn't do him in. At the Statehouse or on the Council.

Time will tell.

Sorry, but the state _could_ do something, but so could your local school board. So could the library. So could the township. In fact, I think the above are much more likely to do more for your bill than the state at this point in time.

Don't worry, the state will try to do something. They could dissolve libraries and let Barnes and Noble privatize the who thing. They could spin off the DVD business of the library into a private company. Maybe it could be called something like "Blockbuster" or "Hollywood Video." Could even start a wave all over the country: A business where one goes in a pays a fee to keep a DVD for a set time period. Interesting.

What Barf also forgets to tell us it that his merger has been nothing but the same ol' good ole' boy network of top heavy administration. Instead of putting the breaks on promotions, they promoted 11 people from IPD and MCSD just before the merger.

For what it's worth, for many years the Mayor of Indianapolis was term-limited to just 8 years but that restriction was removed for Republican then-Mayor Wm. Hudnut who served from 1976-1991. At the time it was mockingly called "The Hudnut-Forever Bill". Sometimes actions have unintended consequences...

This is a problems STATEWIDE Gary, not just in Indy. Go to Ft. Wayne, Evansville and other cities, and the problem of a hamstrung local government funding is there too!!!
