You, my friend, are incorrect. There were more ISP troopers and MCSD deputies in the Coke Lot than IMPD officers. IMPD does not patrol outside their jurisdiction unless requested. The Coke lot sits squarely in the Speedway PD's jurisdiction. So, using your logic, we should blame Sheriff Layton and Governor Pence for the violence in the Coke lot! Why don't you grow a pair and look at the suspects in both these shootings. That is the real story here, when local thugs and hoodlums mingle among our vulnerable out-of-town race fans. Can't wait to hear Amos railing against racial profiling in the Coke lot next year.

It really cheapens the discussion to argue about whether the victim was actually killed in Indianapolis or in Speedway. To the victim's family, a tragic unnecessary death resulted regardless of which police agency had better jurisdiction to have attempted to have prevented it from happening.

Everyone who lives in Marion County is incorporated into the city limits of Indianapolis. Speedway may have its own police department and elected officials, but it is also counted and participates in Indianapolis' municipal government. This weekend, there are more IMPD police officers patrolling around the IMS than Speedway officers. The politicians include Speedway as part of Indianapolis when it suits them and tries to exclude them whenever there is any bad news to report.
