Abdul is listed in Illinois as an active, practicing lawyer there. He lists as his business address the offices of WXNT where he hosts his radio talk show. He's listed as "of counsel" with the Indianapolis firm of Lewis & Wilkins, although by all accounts he does not actually practice any law there, and he isn't licensed to practice law in Indiana. Abdul also claims to have a lucrative consulting gig, but he will not disclose who his clients are. He likes people thinking he's got more going on than he really does. He used to list his annual income on an online website as being over $250,000. He has two teaching gigs at University of Indianapolis and Ivy Tech, both of which pay peanuts. He earns a very small salary from his radio talk show at WXNT. Some people are just full of it.

Why are we getting a new 300 bed Wishard hospital (53 beds less than current Wishard)for $123.7 million MORE in a buyers market for construction materials and labor?

Just read the Star article that states they are using the $750 million dollars to build a new hospital with "about" 300 inpatient beds.

The current Wishard has 353 inpatient beds.

Keep in mind the Luxury JW Marriott complex will cost $450 million and will have 1,626 rooms.

The new Clarian Hospital in Carmel cost $284 million for its new 170 private bed hospital.

The number of beds and $750 million cost don't add up.

Hundreds of millions are unaccounted for.

Nick, The proposed hospital doesn't approach the new Cook County hospital in Chicago in size. Construction costs are also much higher in Chicago. Yet, it cost considerably less than what this hospital is supposedly going to cost and it was still way over budget.

Why are we allowing every non profit hospital in central Indiana to shift all their Medicaid, Medicare, and indigent clients to taxpayer funded Wishard.

Why are we allowing them to keep a non-profit status, shirk care to the needy, and hide enormous sums of money in for profit affiliates?

Anyone with a brain knows that IU and Clarian are the driving force behind the taxpayer general obligation bond proposal. If they and their supporters are sooo sure Wishard can pay this bond through revenue, then why don't they back a revenue bond?

Clarian certainly appears more than willing to pay for new hospitals in Carmel, Fishers, Muncie, Bloomington, and Lafayette. Why not downtown Indianapolis?

Answer: Because poor people aren't as profitable.

I have looked everywhere for the new Wishard Hospital Plans. The only thing I was able to find was a architectural rendering from Inside Indiana Business that shows prominently a parking garage and partial views of two low rise bland boxes.

How dare any of you question the truthfulness of our beloved Indianapolis Star!!

After the purchase of the Indianapolis Star by a whore for the democrats what else would you expect? I delivered and worked for the Indianapolis Star and News during the early years of my life and was very proud of my time there. However since it has been purchased it has decade into a political propaganda sheet for all that is good for us. The Indy Star does not Report the news it dictates to us what our democrat public officials want us to do. Every once in a while I receive a call from someone trying to sell me the Star and I state that I would not whip my backside with their newspaper. Until more people stop taking that rag we will be insulted by it’s one sided reporting for as long as some are willing to pay for garbage to wrap garbage in. STOP TAKING THAT RAG……..

I'm not sure what the deal is with Ryerson. He writes about election reform and fairness to voters, but he flat out refuses to acknowledge the dishonesty the H&H folks in this whole referendum election.

Where is the editorial from Ryerson decrying H&H officials for putting together a referendum question that doesn't mention building a new hospital or how much H&H will have to borrow? Doesn't Ryerson think the voters have the right to know this information? Obviously sticking the information in a classificed ad in the newspaper is not the same thing as putting the pertient information into the referendum question like every other referendum.

Ryerson's message is clear: the ends justify the means. He wants a new Wishard Hospital and any tactics they want to use to get there, he's willing to look the other way. That's not responsible journalism.

Opponents of the referendum are not simply unable to, they are forbidden from refuting the contentions. Ryerson has kept a tight rein on the opposing viewpoint by turning off Pluck accounts and hiding comments from those who dare question him.

Indy has developed quite an impressive "good ol' boy" network and Ryerson is but one link in that network.

It disgusts me to see them continually play the 'demise card' for Wishard. They know it's a lie. They just keep repeating it.

But the process, as you outlined well, has been a sequence of deceptions from the outset.

When you are running with the good ol' boys' pack, letting a little thing like the truth get in your way isn't important.

I am still predicting an impressive bonus being handed out to Gutwein if/when he pulls off his coup de tax.

I hope the taxpayers of Marion County are not as apathetic, naïve, and gullible as Ryerson, Gutwein, Harris et. al seem to think they are.
