At one point in his career he was the fourth highest ranking member of the House. And now here he sits as Governor of the State of Indiana. But I think the “Peter Principle” applies most aptly. The Peter Principle is a concept in management theory in which the selection of a candidate for a position is based on the candidate&#39;s performance in their current role rather than on abilities relevant to the intended role. Thus, employees only stop being promoted once they can no longer perform effectively, and &quot;managers rise to the level of their incompetence.&quot; Mike Pence was a credible team player as a fiscal conservative. But not a stand alone exceptional thinker. He still has to prove himself as a leader. Intellectually, he’s certainly no Mitch Daniels. He’ll never ascend to the presidency of a nationally acclaimed University. He’s more likely to return to radio. Perhaps he and Garrison can trash homosexuals together in Christian brotherhood in the 10 am slot on local radio.
