It speaks for itself, Mark. Billings allegedly accused Benjamin of having an affair with the same clerk with whom he had been accused of having an affair. During the brief encounter, Billings accused Benjamin of having an affair with the female clerk in question and claimed he had been disciplined by Ciesielski for the affair. I'm told Billings did not identify himself to Benjamin when he confronted him about the text messages, which Benjamin denied sending to Billings.

How could Billings, who works for ISP, be disciplined by Ciesielski?

And just for your information, undercover officers often coducted invetigations to see if Omni source employes would purchase suspected stolen property. Omni source was making it as dificult as possible for people to bring in stolen metal.

Ahh but you didn't mention that in your post did you. You just included a tidbit about Omni Source along with the investigations of criminal act by officers. This makes people who read your blog think that "50 officers" are suspected of criminal acts. In fact no uniformed officers were the target of that investigation. Don't compare the possible political corruption with people like Brizzi with the officers who are under investigation for criminal acts and if are guilty should be punished accordingly. The way you talk about the "50 officers" makes it sound as if all of them are suspected of wrong doing. Thus simply isn't so.

They include taking money from police & fire to protect us and building yourself a lavish suite of offices, expanding your personal staff with do-nothing unnecessary jobs (City vehicles likely go with those patronage hire-ons), you have created race-based hire-ons. Don't forget the fact that Carl Brizzi's missed a deadline for indictating an intention to forfeit over a quarter of a million dollars of seized OmniSource funds.

According the IBJ article, Dave Wyser was in charge of the grand jury office responsible for forfeitures at the Marion County Prosecutor's Office. When the error was made public, Wyser said it was Greg Garrison's fault. Greg Garrison said the Prosecutor's never contacted him about starting the forfeiture.

In either case, the result is the same . . . there was no litigation to determine if the $270K were the procedes of criminal activities.

Scott Newman, a former partner at Barnes & Thornburg, almost immediately exonerated the police officers in question of any wrongdoing before any investigation had been concluded into the matter. Our corrupt prosecutor, Carl Brizzi, did exactly what he was ordered to do with the case--nothing. The fact is there were police officers who were supposed to be investigating scrap metal thefts who were also working for OmniSource. The fact is some of those police officers were targeting other scrap metal competitors in town with undercover investigations at the very time OmniSource employed nearly 50 off-duty police officers and purchased stolen metal products. The fact is the attorney for OmniSource tried to get the lead police officer investigating the activities fired for simply doing his job. All of this has been documented in previous news media reports. Get your head out of your ass, DazedAndConfused.

Sadly, last week I returned to my initial assumption that the appointment of Ciesielski was based on his proven past experience in public relations, in media presentation, and in pleasing his superiors, but that those abilities would end up being his failings that would prevent him from being a great police chief.

I am so tired of people who don't know what the are talking about saying there was corruption going on with Omni source! How dare you accuse officers of wrong doing with out facts. If there was corruption it was not with the uniformed officers working security there. You accuse them of corruption based on insinuations and rumor. Where are your facts? The reason the paper even mentioned it is because it is one more thing to add to their story. If there was any real facts they would have spent more time covering it.
