Ok, so it looks like I jumped the gun, as the LPIN just acknowleged that they've been victim of a spoofed email. My apologies. However, this doesn't explain the refusal of the GOP to comment on the validity of the email for over a month.

I'll be interested to see the investigation into whether this was a spoof by a GOP official, in an effort to have plausable deniability.

P.S. Gary, did you actually speak to Chris or Sam? Or is your reaction based on my comment?

The Libertarian Party refuses to identify to whom the e-mail was sent, which raises a question in my mind. I feel pretty confident Jeff Papa would not have told Sen. Long it was a forged e-mail if it was not. I've always found him to be an honest person in my dealings with him.

The email is not a forgery. The published email message was edited to protect the privacy of the person who received it. Lawson's office has already had a month to respond to this information, and has declined. I'm sure if I was Lawson, I'd try to claim it was a hoax too.

From everything I've seen here and on the original post at LPIN, I do not believe that the email was spoofed or a hoax.

The email that it was sent from IS the address that Senator Lawson uses. (senator.lawson@iga.in.gov) was the sender address. I have also received and seen numerous emails form senators and representatives that have used the shorter email address (s24@iga.in.gov) at the bottom of their email.

When you copy an email from your inbox to a document reader it tends to change email addresses into hyperlinks and sometimes it dis regards the parts before the first (.).

Why was it copied to a document reader? ... to redact the name and email address of the recipient.

I think Senate President Pro Tempore David Long should get the state police involved. They should fully and honestly investigate this. If it is a hoax, then the sender should be charged with fraud and impersonating a State Senator. But... if it is shown to not be a fake, then Jeff Papa and David Long MUST publicly admit it and apologize for saying it was a fake and finally Senator Lawson should explain the statements and step down from her seat on the Elections Committee (maybe even the Joint Rules and Rules and Procedures committees).

I've said it before & I'll say it again...the so-called republicans in this state have lost their way. They have apparently forgotten what the republican party stands for.
It is getting exceedingly hard to tell republicans from democrats anymore (except for B. P. Bauer).
