Congrats to this forum, Ogden & others for slowing this questionable parking deal down. The Star hasn't exactly been aggressive in illuminating both sides of this issue on behalf of the taxpayer (similar to the CIB, IPS, Wishard, etc.), but do justly point out Sunday that, "...council members on both sides of the aisle - as well as bloggers, businesses, and residents..." waved down this fast-moving train.

I'm stunned Renn said that about the utility deal. Gary, you and I both agree that Citizen's would likely do a good job managing the utilities. But the "sale" was phony...a way of generating up front cash to be spent before the election, money that would be financed with rate increases and a 30 year loan taken out by Citizens to pay the purchase price. This upfront cash based ona 30 year loan, will be go to improvements lasting 7-10 years.

The public pays if it's run by the City or Citizen's. There is no savings. This is just a shell game.
