Well Ogden, I would say that the Republican Senate and those Pubs in the House have already done an admirable job of taking themselves down. You may not have been paying attention to what policies that they voted for but the voters backing Trump sure as hell have. That old GOP strategy of taking campaign money from the rich to get votes from guys like me is over. If you do not think Trump can beat Hillary then you are far more delusional than I give you credit for. Damn your general election polls, they mean nothing in April. I could argue that those who want Hillary are those pushing Donald Trump to be the nominee. He consistently polls as the worst GOP candidate against Hillary. The Koch's probably have made a Risk Assessment of Hillary and determined that behind all her rhetoric she is bought and paid for by Wall Street. I agree that the braintrust (and I use that term loosely) doesn't want either Cruz or Trump, but they don't want HIllary either. They want their own candidate and they're trying to figure out how to get there. It goes like this. 1. Use Cruz and Kasich to destroy Trump. That's job one. Once he's destroyed, they will destroy Cruz but not so that Hillary wins, but rather so they can insert their own puppet. I'm convinced that is the plan. Their puppet has to be so popular as to make people forget about Trump (mostly) because he's the big tent candidate. They can't pull it off. They don't know it yet. They still think they can, but they can't. The original commenter was right. The party apparatus KNOWS that Trump beats Hillary and that scares them. Who is this "they" you keep talking about? "They don't want any Republican to win. "They want Hillary Clinton to win." Because I don't know any Republican that wants Hillary Clinton to win, and that includes the most political Republicans I know, some of whom are well up in the party apparatus. I think you're way out on a ledge with these statements.

And as for Koch, I've read what he has to say, and there's nothing much new. He just doesn't like any of the remaining candidates. He was very supportive earlier in the game, but as his candidates lost he lost interest. I know he said he didn't think the remaining candidates were the equals of Hillary Clinton when it came to foreign policy and being President, but that doesn't indicate a conspiracy; he just doesn't want to give any more money to candidates he thinks are second rate.

I don't like the delegate situation either, but its not new, just playing out in a new race. The delegates are bound on the first vote by national Republican party rules, and that is a fairly recent change intended to fix just the problem we're in. The fact that it hasn't completely fixed it just means it was incremental. Further fixes may be necessary. The delegates can install whatever rules they want to vote on at the convention.
