I saw the mayor, Democrat Tom Henry, on some awful public affairs thing on Comcast. He explained how the city sold off its electric company, and now has a bunch of money that he's looking to put to a good cause. More on that here:

Normal citizens might have thought a Good Cause is owning their damn electric company.

Instead, there's a thing called the Fort Wayne Legacy Fund, basically a slush fund of enormous magnitude - here's the kind of projects it will be blown on: http://www.legacyfortwayne.org/

Construction of college buildings ! Wow, there's an investment ! Like the city doesn't have any vacant office buildings. Like the Internet isn't going to revolutionize education to such an extent that bricks-and-mortar will rapidly diminish in importance.

Basically the mayor sold off the electric company, so he could provide union construction jobs; those unions then of course donate to the mayor and the Democrats.

All part of the trend of Democrats and RINOs building as much brick-and-mortar as fast as possible, before people realize how stupid that is in the Internet age. Other examples include the rash of building projects at state university campuses; rail transit; the new downtown library; the new airport.
