Agree with anonymous. The victims chose a lifestyle that includes violence. The Beech Grove place was a drug house. The Brightwood murders are drug related. Almost all the murders are confined to the eastside and other pockets of drug use (crack on the eastside, meth on the south side). It's a culture. If you obey the law and avoid drug users/sellers you are safe. Normal law abiding people have nothing to fear. Many think these deaths cry out for gun control. But if you live in a suburb like I do where many people own firearms you couldn't be any safer.

The question I think ought to be whether Detroit gangs have come to the eastside and if so, what is law enforcement doing about it. Or are we letting them kill each other off, which is an option so long as it is contained to that ilk which so far it has been.

7 of the 8 "victims" had prior arrests, 4 of them spent lengthy time as guests of the State of Indiana DOC. They made their beds, regardless of who the mayor is or how much money and manpower we throw out there. Should you choose to be a law-abdiding citizen, Indianapolis is a pretty safe place. Should you choose not to, well then good luck.

Well Gary, important questions come to mind - Did our Mayor fly First Class or Steerage? Given the Majesty and Prestige of Ballard himself and his august office as Mayor flying in the steerage section might send out the message that we are World Class.
Second will this crime spree have any negative fall-out in determining if the City can sponsor another Stupor Bowl.
Third, we need to make sure the people do not question the use of Tax Funding to subsidize the Pacers or build a Sucker Stadium in lieu of funding for Citizen Safety.
