Good IPS Board Candidates Wanted
An IPS supporter and reader of this blog informs me that good, qualified candidates are needed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of IPS board member Olgen Williams, who resigned last week to become Deputy Mayor of Neighborhood and Public Affairs in the Ballard administration. You must apply by January 10 if you are interested. Here is a link to IPS' website. There was a Star article last week explaining how to apply, but the link to that story is now dead. Williams held an at-large seat on the board. There are 5 district seats and 2 at-large seats. No more than 2 members may live in the same district. As I understand, district 1 already has 2 board members so you can't reside in that district. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a map of the districts so you'll have to figure that out yourself. One-half of your property tax bill goes to support IPS. If you care about education and how your tax dollars are spent, please consider applying for this open board position.

Enter your address.
Push “search” button.
On next screen, push “display districts”.
The next line down should show your school board district.
good luck.
I believe at-large members can live anywhere, and if they happen to reside in a district where there are already the maximum number of board members, it makes no difference.
And I believe the person must reside in the district for one year prior to the vacancy.

Olgen Williams is the Deputy Mayor of Imitations! I am rather confused by Greg Ballard? Ogen Williams did not support Greg Ballard? There were a lot of dedicated community minded people around Greg Ballard supporting him and bringing the community to him. When Ballard won the election he crawls under a rock and pulls out Olgen Williams? I wonder how Greg Ballard spells "LOYALTY", if he knows what it is?
Ya know, after attending last night's Democratic Congressional forum, I left with an overwhelming impression that Randle Pllard would be agood public servant somewhere.
IPS's board is perfect for him.
I have no idea where he lives, but he'd be a great board member. IPS is a mess, and good folks are needed. Randle served in the State Board of Ed, and has the brains to be effective.
He's got no traction in this Congressional race. Maybe he should adjust his sights.

Not true--
IC 20-25-3-4(b) Five (5) members shall be elected from the school board districts in which the members reside and two (2) members must be elected at large. Not more than two (2) of the members who serve on the board may reside in the same school board district.
Pollard would be a good addition the School Board.
