Sorry Hillary, But Obama Won Nevada

The news media very quickly declared Sen. Hillary Clinton the winner of today's Nevada Democratic Caucus. Indeed, she has won the popular vote by fewer than 600 votes statewide with 97% of the votes counted. However, what really counts in the presidential nominating process is the number of delegates a candidate wins. On that score, Obama is the winner, picking up 13 delegates to Hillary's 12 delegates. So while the mainstream media declares Hillary a big winner tonight, Advance Indiana congratulates fellow Illinoisan Barack Obama on his Nevada victory.

How did that happen?

Hell must have approximately the same wind chill factor as Indianapolis tonight -- Gary Welsh just had something nice to say about an elected African-American Democrat!

I suspect the delegates are allocataed by congressional district and Obama carried congressional districts with more delegates than those carried by Hillary.

Haven't I said a lot of nice things about Rep. Greg Porter, Wilson? And Mike Rodman? And Steve Talley? And I could go on, but you should get the point, Wilson. The African-American community extends beyond the Carson machine.

Oops, Wilson...he's got you there.

And, for the record, Wilson is not the appointed spokesperson of all things Black. And some of his heroes are, to put it bluntly, near the end of their ropes.

Democratic Nevada voters received phone calls from some strange group urging them to vote for Clinton instead of "Barack Hussein Obama" who the callers said wants to raise your social security payroll tax. It looks like Julia's choice for the 2008 presidential nomination is playing off fears of Muslims by referencing Obama's middle name to scare people into voting for her. As you would say, Wilson, absolutely pitiful.

I love America! Despite of all the killings and political bs that is going. When it is all said and done, there is no place like home. We have allot of problems here in our city, I do however, have hope that over time with good people in office and our citizens, we can make Indianapolis one of the most progressive city's in the United States. So, to all my good friends on this blog hang in their and my prayers goes to everyone and their families in 2008.

Sincerely

DARK HORSE

It looks like your GOP Presidential field of white men just got one less: Uncle Fred seems to be dropping out after his less-than-stellar performance in South Carolina. Ron Paul is naturally reinvigorated by his 2nd place after the Mittster in Nevada. By the way, whatever happened to your Sainted Rudy911?

MSM is pushing Hillary at us, so you are correct when you say they will call her the winner and there will be no mention of the delegates.

No matter what, I still like the chances of Dems because I can't take four more years of Repubs on the federal level.

But McCain is a tougher candidate than any others.

Now wait a minute. A 13-12 delegate "victory" is not overwhelming in the grand scheme. As long as Obama and Clinton stay close to each other and Edwards and others prevent any one of the two froma achieveing a majority means anything can happen at the convention.
