Lobbyists And Special Interests Pour More Money Into Carson's Race

Folks, once again our local news media is asleep at the switch as lobbyists and special interest groups pour money into buy the 7th District seat on behalf of U.S. Rep. Andre Carson. I told you on Friday about all the money Carson raised down in South Florida this past week. Another 48-hour report with the FEC reveals that Carson raised $4,600 from the Miccosukee Tribe, a Native-American tribe in South Florida which operates casinos. D.C. lobbyist Steve Elmendorf, makes a $4,600 contribution. A securities industry PAC kicks in $1,000, while a mortgage bankers PAC contributes $1,000. A senior V.P. for Verizon, Howard Wooley, chips in $1,000, and Michael Williams, a lobbyist for Credit Suisse adds another $1,000 to Carson's campaign coffers. An investment manager from Connecticut, Francisco Borges, makes a $2,300 contribution. Local contributors like lobbyists Lacy Johnson and Mike O'Connor max out for Carson. More than $100,000 has flowed into Carson's campaign in the last week alone. The vast majority of these funds have come from individuals and special interests far away from the 7th District. Andre Carson sold you down the river to buy his seat in Congress. If you want to take back your seat in Congress, you must defeat him on May 6. I hope the Democrats in this district care more about the future of the people of the 7th District than the Carson legacy. We can't afford any more of Carson selling out our interests to the highest bidders.

At least, he is not self funding the campaign with 1.5 million dollars that he made by denying the medical claims of middle class working Californians. Shame on Woody Myers.

If you think that Woody Myers made his money purposefully to deny claims then you are as crazy as some of the comments you make here. One man is not alone the cause of the healthcare crisis. He likely did his job which did not entail running around like a covert CIA agent looking at claims for a reason to deny them.

You call me crazy but you are posting that you wish Evan Bayh and Andy Jaobs would be killed in accident at sea because you disagree with them..that is pretty drastic, isn't it.

Gary, you used to be a lobbyist (for the Capital Improvement Board, no less). Why do you vilify lobbyists so much when you yourself "earned" a living doing that? Why aren't you more forthcoming about that aspect of your life?

Yep...there's some more of that "change" in Washington that Carson is always talking about.

I've never hid the fact that I once was employed by a major Indianapolis law firm where I was required to register as a lobbyist as part of my job. Yes, one of those clients happened to be the CIB. I also spent 6 years working for the Illinois House Republican Staff. I speak with authority when I write about the sleaze that has come to dominate our political system.

This is why we need Republicans to cross over. Myers is very competitive with Carson and even a couple thousand Republicans voting for Myers can turn the tide.

artfuggins if you don't know i do not mean to imply that death come to our senator and the former congressman you'd be the only one. I am saying I do not respect their opinions... that the nicest thing they could do with those statements and thinkings is to retire from office or get a job on Andre's staff. For men of their alleged stature to thing a guy who graduated almost last in his class at the law enforcement academy and whose only jobs were handed to him to overpower in intellegence and qualifications others more deserving and seeking to serve is equal to their needing a psychiatric examination. I wish them well in their private lives, and would hope the retire their public presence.

Then why do you say that you wish they had jobs on the next Titanic???????
