The Star offers these additional details of the incident this past weekend:
In Saturday's incident, a caller named Katherine Haynes reported that Minton-McNeill was speeding and swerving all over the road. Haynes, who told police she and McNeill had a previous conflict, said the councilwoman slammed on her brakes about two feet from where Haynes' daughter was standing with her seven-week-old daughter in a stroller.
When police arrived at Minton-McNeill's home, they found her vehicle's engine was warm and noticed fresh skid marks on the street, according to a police report. McNeill came to the door, pointed down the street toward Haynes and said, "She's lying," the report said.
Lt. Jeff Duhamell, a spokesman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, said the incident remains under investigation by Northwest District detectives. He said because McNeill was found in her home, there was not ample evidence to arrest her.

What a classy broad :)
If you look her up on the city-county council website, the title of the District 15 page reads: "District 15, VACANT"...

Might as well be, right? :)
District 15 is Bateman.
Driving Drunk Doris is District 19.
Her mug is still posted at Indygov.org
No one is proven to have been drunk. IndyErnie obviously does not believe in the American judicial system or that we are innocent until proven guilty. I am willing to let the judicial system play out. Remember she has not been charged with anything and probably wont be. If convicted of DUI then I would expect her to resign.
AI, who did the repubs run against the Dem candidate in this district during the last election??
The Republicans had no candidate because Tom John cut a deal with Lacy Johnson that landed him a job at Ice Miller and Andre Carson on the council and on to Congress. The Democrats were not legally eligible to put a candidate on the ballot after Abduallah resigned following my embarrassing disclosure that he never lived in the district because the deadline had passed. John knew that he could put a candidate on the ballot before the deadline, and he knew of Abduallah's residency problem. He deliberately left it vacant and refused to challenge the legality of Carson's placement on the ballot. Shortly after the election, John got a job at Ice Miller.
I believe Drunk Doris has attended CCC meetings under the influence. On several occasions she has slurred her words and rambled when she spoke.
Having been related to more than one alcoholic I am very aware of the signs. Sometimes Drunk Doris is flashing neon.
Fox 59 tonite reports she has "disappeared" and the neighbor who reported her this time has changed her story.
I agree on letting the judicial system play itself out and believe we should assume that people are innocent until proven guilty. I don't agree that a misdemanor DUI should automatically disqualify someone from the council. (If they want to resign...okay.) This is small potatoes compared to the public corruption that is a regular occurence is this city.
Paul, McNeil was appointed, not elected, to that office. Two times now within a year she has drawn attention to herself based on her own actions. Whether she violated a criminal law is irrelevant. Her public conduct is enough for the Democratic Party to call for her to resign and it should.
I so hope that Councilor Minton-McNeil gets the help she obviously needs, from some reputable source. Her reported dangerous behavior, seemingly deranged, in her neighborhood is cause for great concern, and setting a terrible example for her constituents and the youth, for heaven's sake.
