Paul George Suffers Compound Leg Fracture During Exhibition Game
The Indiana Pacers' Paul George suffered a gruesome compound fracture to his right leg during a USA Men's Basketball scrimmage game in Las Vegas. Both the tibia and fibula bones snapped when it collided with the basketball goal post. George underwent surgery overnight to repair the compound fracture. George's injury was reminiscent of a similar injury Louisville's Kevin Ware suffered during the NCAA tournament in Indianapolis in 2013. Ware remarkably returned to the basketball court six months later. George tweeted early this morning: "Thanks everybody for the love and support . . . I'll be back ok and be better than ever!!! Love y'all." Officials decided to call the game following George's injury. Team USA coach Mike Krzyewski said George "appeared quite stoic" in the face of the injury.
