Indy Eleven Stadium Bill Dead

The proponents of the taxpayer-funded soccer stadium for Ersal Ozdemir's Indy Eleven have declared the legislation dead for the second year in a row after passing the House and the Senate by wide margins. The stadium's biggest cheerleader says legislators couldn't agree over which pot of taxpayer monies should be used to pay for the new stadium. They'll be back next year. You can count on it. Knowing how the Capital Improvement Board and the Ballard administration operates, it wouldn't be shocking for them to find some other way of financing it with existing city and CIB revenues before Ballard's term ends this year. The Star's sports columnist, Gregg Doyel, suggests Ozdemir might move his team elsewhere. LOL. Words coming from a reporter with no historical perspective on how things happen in Indy.

Not sure this owner will take this sitting down. Look to leave? RT @brianeason: Indy Eleven stadium bill is dead http://indy.st/1GG3Kv6

Can you explain how this occurred ? So it passed both houses for approval for the project, but was re-voted again on funding in which that was the reason it failed ? Maybe I am just reading the wording wrong.

The Senate changed the funding mechanism for the stadium provided in the House-approved bill considerably. That sent it to conference committee where it died.

My subscription cancellation to Gannett's ruined Indianapolis Star is once again vindicated.

Hamilton County here comes the push for a Stadium!! The Indy Eleven had scheduled practices in Westfield during the first part of March.

Perhaps voters should review "beware the Ides of March"?

Carmel and Westfield have already given Ozdemir and his Keystone Construction the keys to their TIF Districts.

Are you sure Bosma didn't kill the bill because he learned the feds were snooping around?

That Turk can take his shady deals and his sissy, boring - ass sport anywhere he wants as long as it's not in Indiana.
