IRL Finally Earns A Little Media
It's pretty bad that it takes a post-race scuffle between Sam Hornish and Tony Kanaan to get some media attention for the struggling Indy Racing League. It's even worse when your old man, as in Hornish's case, has to fight your fights for you. The Star's Curt Cavin is reporting that Hornish and Kanaan have been fined undisclosed sums, and their respective racing teams, Penske and Andretti Green, have been fined $25,000 each for the team members' actions, including those not caught on camera. Hornish's father, who pushed Kanaan, will lose his pit privileges at this weekend's race. Anthony Fedele, who tackled Hornish's dad after the shove, had his credentials revoked. Cavin says Fedele had no official role with Andretti-Green. He just got caught up in the moment.

Ah, Sam Hornish Jr. was practicing fighting in the pits for when he races those tin top racers over in NASCAR next year.
