Evey notice that your cats walk under your feet in the middle of the night, while you're on the way to the 2am potty break from sleeping? To a cat, you are a captor, not an owner. They are trying to make you fall and break your neck and die. This way they can escape and be free.
"dogs have owners, cats have a staff of caregivers"
I'd never had cats, except the wild kind on the farm growing up, until recently. My condo forbids animals over 15 lbs., which is meant to preclude loud dogs.
So I got two cats. Their presonalities are incredible.
Amazing creatures. They never set a foot outside and they are incredibly Diva-like.
Are wild cats still a big problem in the city? Since I don't work nights much anymore, I don't see them as often. I have seen feral cats out where I live (Hancock Co.). The one cat finally moved down the street I think (maybe those people feed them). Feral cats shouldn't be a problem too much longer. Coyotes are on the rise in the suburbs, at least one has been seen in the Irvington area. If you have a feral cat problem in your area, get some good, long distance coyote lure.
anon 6:13, we used to have a lot of stray cats around. I remember seeing a lady getting in her car a few years ago down the street with about two dozen cats clinging at her feet and all about her car. The only cats I see now are the ones my neighbors let out to play.
anon 11:16, I have come to respect cats as being much smarter than I used to give them credit for being. Growing up on a farm, we always favored dogs over cats, although we always had plenty of cats around because there were so many mice to feed on. Their personalities can be human-like to the point of being a little eerie. I know some cats don't like being held, but mine are quite the opposite. They expect to be held, and they love being held like babies. It's almost like their way of being reassured you to still love them. Or maybe it's really their way of doing something to make me feel good.

If I recall, you live downtown. I know the reason for the missing feral cats. A few years ago, a few foxes appeared down by IUPUI. The feral cat population in that area disappeared. About a year ago, the foxes were around the Channel 8 building. I don't know where they are now, but the could have moved to another area downtown.

Cute. Are they Siamese?
Yes. Luke is a blue point and Leo is a flame point.
MMMmmm cats. Taste just like chicken.
Sorry, I have five myself, but I couldn't help myself. I've seen that bumper sticker before.
Our five are all saves.
Here is the better cat line I've saw.

Cats have never forgotten this."

If only they could talk.

Awwww. Thank you. I miss my two kitties who both used the last of their nine lives last year after 18 years together with me.
They do have distinct personalities, and having them around the house, especially when you're alone, is the best...
There are many times I wish I was somebody's pet. You get love, and care and fed and all you have to do is rub yourself against your owners leg.
