Ouch! Stutzman Got Only 26 Votes In Majority Whip Race
The Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette's Washington reporter Brian Francisco cites a Roll Call tally in the recent House leadership race for Majority Whip in which U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman and Illinois' Peter Roskam lost out to Steve Scalise (R-LA). Scalise handily won on the first vote with 127 votes. Roskam came in second with 77 votes. Stutzman finished last with only 26 votes. Neither Roskam or Stutzman were offered leadership posts following the race. Roskam had been Chief Deputy Whip. Stutzman had been bounced from the leadership's whip team last year after voting against the leadership position's in support of a farm bill.
