Does the federal BOP provide for good time early release or will he serve the whole number?
Does anyone know yet why Hogsett sat on Jared FBI evidence for four years (allowing him to continue to molest children)? Why didn't Joe prosecute? Does Hogsett care about children? Does Hogsett have any idea what sexual abuse does to the mind of a child who is tortured, used, penetrated and abused?
I believe under federal sentencing laws you're going to have to serve at least 85% of the sentence in prison.
Good question, Melyssa. Don't expect anyone in our local news media to ask that question of Hogsett.
I was thinking before Judge Walton-Pratt announced her sentence what I would do if I were in her shoes. I was thinking 15 years. I think she got it right in addressing concerns the feds suggested sentence was too lenient compared to what others in this district and other federal courts have been sentenced for similar crimes.
Gary? I will tweet and facebook that question about Hogsett for four years until I get a satisfactory answer.
I am a sexual abuse survivor. By now this whole town knows what the abuse did to me, the years I suffered, and the lengths I had to go through to eventually heal to take possession of my own power.
Most people are not as fortunate as me. Most children will never heal.
How many additional children's lives are effected because Hogsett chose to not prosecute Fogle earlier.
Fogel deserves more. The 100K to each of his victims is a joke. He solicited for both boys and girls and was willing to cross state lines. What a complete pervert. I hope he rots in hell.
@Melyssa
It could be (granted this is a long shot) that he and the Feds were waiting and hoping he might lead them to bigger fish. I don't know if you recall but (IIRC) two years ago the Feds arrested the server owners of a paedophile site and then kept it running for another few weeks (unfortunately allowing more children to be abused but at the same time gathering evidence on more scum suckers that they put behind bars).
Visitor,
I hear you. I believe pedophilia goes as high as the office of American presidents and the royal family. Four years, on the other hand is a much longer time than a few weeks. On WIBC, it was reported before the election that IBJ had made a FOIA request of Hogsett's prosecutorial records 1.5 years ago and that request remains unfilled.
Get ready for the meatball sub, Jared!
I loved how Judge Pratt put Jared in his place when he tried to use his family as an appeal for sympathy. Pratt shot back about the $7 million his wife got from their quickie divorce. Transferring all of that money to his wife left no pot of money for potential victims to go after in future lawsuits against him.
$100,000 is a paltry amount. I'm here to tell you the toll it takes on a person's potential ability to earn money is staggering. It affects all areas of your life because it is a direct deep hit to a person's self-esteem area, the level right under self-actualization on the Maslow hierarchy.
I figure the abuse I suffered easily set me back $500k or more. I had many relationship issues as a young woman. Because my self-esteem was so pathetic in those days, I did not earn nearly what I could have in my sales career.
In addition, I was horribly sexually harassed with my early employment. That did a number on my psyche too.
We've got to start getting these issues out into the open.
