Pence Won't Seek Majority Leader Position
Redstate.org is reporting that Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) sent a letter to his colleagues on the Republican Study Committee advising them that he will not seek the Majority Leader position being vacated by Tom DeLay. It also reports that Rep. Roy Blunt (R-MO) appears to be in the lead over Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) for the post. Pence reportedly made calls to fellow Republican members guaging their support for his candidacy. Blunt and Boehner appear to be locking up a lot of members in their early bids.

Could it be that Rep. Pence is waiting for the Speaker of the House position to come open.
That kind of crossed my mind as well, but he may be running out of time. It's not likely that Hastert will last passed this year the way things are going. Democrats may well regain the majority after this year's congressional elections.
