It's Pronounced BOLE-ah-jack

As if she doesn't have enough things to worry about, Heather Bolejack wants to set the record on the proper pronunciation of her name. Jim Shella's Blog sets us straight:

On a related matter, you may have noticed some confusion in the pronounciation of Heather Bolejack's name. Most people, including Michael McKenna and friends of Bolejack, pronounce it BOLE-jack (two syllables.) Heather and her family, however, pronounce it BOLE-ah-jack (three syllables.) For that reason we here at WISH-TV have changed from the two syllable pronounciation to the three syllable pronounciation.

This reminds me of a guy who used to correct the pronunciation of his last name, which was Fucher. It is pronounced Few-ker he used to say, not Fuh-ker.

Shades of "Young Frankenstein".

I loved that movie--memorable repeated line---IT'S FRANKEN-STINE, NOT FRANKEN-STEEN!

Then there's Fucking, Austria (pronounced "few-king"). Seems this little mountain town has a problem with tourists stealing their signs. This is from an actual Yahoo news article from a while back, it's hysterical:

"We will not stand for the Fucking signs being removed," the officer told the broadsheet.

"It may be very amusing for you British, but Fucking is simply Fucking to us. What is this big Fucking joke? It is puerile."

Local guide Andreas Behmueller said it was only the British that had a fixation with Fucking.

"The Germans all want to see the Mozart house in Salzburg," he explained.

"Every American seems to care only about 'The Sound of Music' (the 1965 film shot around Salzburg). The occasional Japanese wants to see Hitler's birthplace in Braunau.

"But for the British, it's all about Fucking."
