Daniels Appoints Connie Lawson Secretary of State

Gov. Mitch Daniels wasted no time in naming his permanent choice to replace Charlie White as Secretary of State following yesterday's unanimous Supreme Court decision ruling that White was eligible to take office following his election in 2010. State Sen. Connie Lawson (R-Danville) is Daniels' choice. The Star's Mary Beth Schneider has more on the announcement here. If White's criminal convictions are overturned on appeal as they should be, White will get his office back and Lawson will have given up her Senate seat for naught.
