Indiana Ranked 29th In Per Capita Property Tax Collections According To Tax Foundation
The Tax Foundation released its latest data on state and local property tax collections per capita. New Jersey is the highest-taxed state at $2,819 per capita. Alabama comes in the lowest at $539. Indiana falls in the middle at $1,182, which is slightly higher than Ohio's $1,130 and much lower than Illinois' $1,877 and slightly lower than Michigan's $1,453. Kentucky's property tax collections are only $684 per capita. The data is a little dated since it is based on the 2010 fiscal year.

Sure, it's inequitable, but one-two-three sure sounds "catchy." Caps are really kites in the hands of trendy assessors & a non-uniform assessment system. Translation: there are no caps.
