We're Now Electing Out CIA Agents To Congress

Will Hurd's election to Congress after beating incumbent U.S. Rep. Pete Gallego (D) in Texas' 23rd district is getting attention because he is one of two African-American Republicans elected in Tuesday's election to Congress. Newcomer Mia Love won the other seat in Utah. What caught my attention was the fact that he openly boasted about working as a CIA agent in South Asia and the Middle East where he says he primarily worked on the recruitment of foreign assets, collection and dissemination of intelligence for the President and senior national security decision-makers. Most recently, he's been working as a director for Fusion X, a cyber security firm which provides technical, intelligence and security consulting services to government agencies and corporations. Hurd won't be the first former CIA agent to serve in Congress. George H.W. Bush and Porter Goss, who both worked for the CIA prior to their first service in Congress, are just two we know about. It's believed there are many more, likely including President Barack Obama, whose first employer out of college was Business International Corp., a known CIA front company. George W. Bush once worked as a pilot for a small, CIA-run airline in Alaska early in his career. It's remarkable they now wear it like a badge of honor, comfortable with the knowledge that few Americans understand or even care about the threat the national security state poses to our fundamental liberties.

Mia Love is not "African-American" (of which, of course, there is no such race).
Mia's parents are from Haiti, not Africa.
I guess that would make her a "Haiti-American.

Her ancestors were brought to Haiti from Africa.
