The mouthpiece for the corrupt elements of the Indiana State Republican Party is reporting that the state rules committee has rewarded outgoing Hamilton Co. Chairman Pete Emigh and his handpicked stooge to replace him, Pete Peterson, by reinstating 71 PCs, some of whom didn't even know they had been appointed, prior to his resignation. The fact that Emigh broke state party rules and failed to provide proper notice of the appointment of the PCs is without consequence to the state party. It's fully committed to the corruption that has come to epitomize the Hamilton Co. Republican Party.
The party is also removing Laura Campbell, the duly-elected Vice Chair of the party, who became county chair automatically under state party rules when Emigh resigned his position in December. Campbell exercised her discretion as county chair to remove the last-minute appointees from the list of those eligible to participate in a caucus election to elect a new county chair, complaining that the appointments were done in contravention of state party rules and for the clear purpose of stacking the deck by diluting the voting strength of the elected PCs who've been toiling at the precinct level in some cases for years to help the party win elections. Many of these newly-appointed PCs have no prior association with the Republican Party.

I declare Civil War in the Grand Old Party of Indiana! Down with the RINO Traitors who have dominated us to long!
Interesting comments by Mike Lofgren -
The concept of a ‘Deep State’ has been around for a while, but rarely to describe the United States. The term, used in Kemalist Turkey by the political class, referred to an informal grouping of oligarchs, senior military and intelligence operatives and organized crime, who ran the state along anti-democratic lines regardless of who was formally in power.
I define the American Deep State as a hybrid association of elements of government and top-level finance and industry that is able, through campaign financing of elected officials, influence networks and co-option via the promise of lucrative post-government careers, to govern the United States in spite of elections and without reference to the consent of the governed.
These operatives use their proximity to power and ability to offer high-paying jobs to government officials to achieve outcomes foreclosed to ordinary citizens.
Greed is the prerogative of American elites. Their behavior was described by political scientist Harold Lasswell, who said a society’s leadership class consists of those whose “private motives are displaced onto public objects and rationalized in terms of public interest”.

Seems to just about say it all in a few paragraphs.
The establishment is now exposed as the third party they "warned us" not to vote for...
Having abandoned the grass roots; the establishment represents the Creepublican Party.
This guarantees Pete Peterson election as County Chair. Did the State Party look into the background of Mr. Peterson? I guess they like the kind of people they can control. My wife and I worked hard for the Party up here until they tried to embarrass me at a party event but wouldn't let me speak to counter what they said. They didn't embarrass me just themselves. They just don't like any opposition and will do anything legal or illegal to make sure they don't win an election. You have to be their kind of republican or else.
So, just who are these 71 people?
Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness, a bunch of his city employees, city contractors and vendors and other mummy dummies Emigh and Peterson thought of to stack the deck.
John, I've come to the conclusion that unless you have a criminal record, have a history of cheating on a spouse or significant other, enjoy hanging out in strip clubs, frequenting prostitutes, etc., you are not wanted by the party.
Laura Campbell is one of Brainard's cronies that took over a council seat in Carmel. She is the wife of a Ham. Co. judge, & partner with a contributor to the campaign of a recent young County candidate who was tied in with the illegal prescription drug operation being run by a local doctor. The candidate did not win. He worked with the Doctor and bought an expensive home from him at significant and very curious discount. The story was covered by CurrentinCarmel but the newspaper pulled that issue off their archives, so it is not available to the public anymore. That story was covered at this web site too. Anyway, I'm not sure I would descibe her as someone without her own insider ties and agenda.
I am curious to see the reasoning the state GOP used to make this ruling -- a reading of the rules leads me to conclude that Campbell's reasoning was sound, based on the rules, and totally legitimate....I just don't see how this could be interpreted any other way....let's see the spin doctors' explanation of this one.....what a sad state of affairs -- I used to be involved in state Republican politics in the 80's and 90's and am sad to see such a total disregard of rules --
"I've come to the conclusion that unless you have a criminal record, have a history of cheating on a spouse or significant other, enjoy hanging out in strip clubs, frequenting prostitutes, etc., you are not wanted by the party. "
Add child molesting/pornography to that Gary
Anon. 6:34, I'm not advocating for the election of Campbell. I just think she's entitled to a fair race in compliance with the party's long-established rules. It's very disturbing that the City of Fishers from the mayor to the council to the halls of the city offices and beyond are being enabled to control the outcome of this election. There's all of these people in one corner of the county being allowed to dilute the vote of the majority of the county. These rules that allow people to serve as PCs in precincts in which they don't live is just not a good practice. We've had people who don't even live in Marion County appointed and voting in caucus elections conducted by the Marion Co. GOP. It stinks to high heaven, and the state party should be ashamed for allowing things to get this far out of whack. I wouldn't be surprised if some of Emigh's appointments live somewhere other than Hamilton County.
their rules are flexible -- just like Indy. Too many RULES would only slow them down
OUT THE 71......People need to know who are just tools and easily used tools at that.
Gary, you are so right in your 6:54 post -- the state committee SHOULD be ashamed that they let this thing get out of control....are there no more reasonable people associated with the GOP any more?
Given the Governor is the de facto head of the GOP, he should be ashamed of this corrupt decision because it directly reflects on him. Should Laura Campbell NOT win the chair on Sat., I predict a huge revolt by grass roots conservatives in Nov. to boycott voting for Pence and he WILL be defeated. This is ANOTHER example of the Governor NOT leading, but instead punting and hiding in the closet.
Both parties are equally guilty of this practice. Should be banned. Will it ever? Hell no!
Non-native PC's is an O'blamer tactic used in the 2008 primary to overwhelm caucus votes with bussed in "members." If you don't think that could happen in the New Democrat or Republic-can't party, you've got limited imagination...
Great news post, Gary. You nailed it all. Dishonest political shenanigans like this damage "we the people" but enrich the corrupt attorneys who run local and county politics (among others, can you say DB and co-conspirator wife SB?). It is disgusting, self-interested, crony crap like this that drove so many of us loyal grass roots Party members out and far away from the Hoosier "Republican" Party.
I am not sure what influence Jeff Cardwell has over all this but I am assured he would do nothing about it if he could weigh in. This type of insider intrigue is what I've seen JC be all about.
Sad. Just Sad. Count me out of the swamp.
I understand a lot of people could care less about the election of a county chairman, but these same rules control how people are getting elected as state lawmakers, city and county council seats and other offices where incumbent officeholders deliberately make a decision to leave in the middle of their term so a rigged caucus election can be used to pick their successor. But notice how the Indianapolis Star and the rest of our media goes silent on something that goes to the very heat of the integrity of a representative form of government.
Yes (again) Gary (@ 7:35) and also applicable to your recent post about John Bills in Chicago. IF (IF!) Indy had reputable, sentient news sources (other than you) in the fish wrapper we call The Indianapolis Star or in local broadcast "news" sources, overt criminals like Greg Ballard and the corrupt attorneys who run Hoosier Democrat and Republican politics would be adorned with wrist bracelets more commonly called handcuffs. These crooks should all be rotting in a federal prison instead of walking among us breathing the crisp air of freedom.
We have evolved toward a totalitarian state of Fascism. Stalin's rise to power was contingent upon his ability as General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Stalin used this position to appoint many of his allies to government positions. At a political level there is no difference between Fascism and Communism, both are one party states.
So we have both the insiders in the Democrat and Republican Parties selecting who controls the party apparatus. These people receive their marching orders and vote for who the party bosses and their Crony-Capitalist allies decide who has been properly vetted to run as an elected official or be selected as an appointed official. Rules and laws are like pie crust made to be broken. There are no consequences. Both parties have transformed into the Republicrat Party. There is no Stalin as such but governance is more like the Five Mafia Families a political cease fire in a sense.
Our local franchise of the McMega-Media acts as Pravda did in the old Soviet Union - All is well, the system works.
This is why I believe Trump and Sanders has put such scare into the establishment both are stepping out side the political box and why they have both resonated with the people. The establishment has tried is and still trying to take Trump down very overtly. The opposite tactic has been employed on Bernie Sanders - ignore him.
"The establishment has tried is and still trying to take Trump down very overtly. The opposite tactic has been employed on Bernie Sanders - ignore him"
This tells me the GOP apparatus does not have control and there's a perceived danger of Trump having success or at least enough to disrupt the nominating process. Therefore turn to the MSM to discredit Trump. Meanwhile the Dems think through their "Superdelegates" and other party procedures they still control the nominating process and can ensure Hillary her promised nomination. If Bernie becomes a threat the Machine will come out to take out Bernie, even if it's RFK style.
