The grand plan by the establishment Republican Party to block Donald Trump hit another major bump in the road as he swept the five northeastern states on the ballot today by overwhelming majorities. Trump easily won primary elections in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
He captured more than 60% of the vote in Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island. In the large, diverse state of Pennsylvania he captured nearly 60% of the vote and won in every part of the state- urban, suburban and rural. Trump is winning about 54% of the vote in Maryland, including the suburban D.C. area where Washington insiders predominate. Cruz is running dead last in all of the states but Pennsylvania, and he barely cracked 20% of the vote there.
It's also another big night for Hillary Clinton. She has convincingly won Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania and narrowly won in Connecticut, while Sanders won Rhode Island. There is no mathematical possibility of Sanders winning the nomination at this point. Trump, on the other hand, did everything he needed to keep his hopes alive of winning the magical 1,237 delegates he needs to win the Republican nomination on a first ballot.
With his clean sweep tonight, he's getting very close to having 1,000 delegates, or close to 400 more than Cruz. Despite his overwhelming win in Pennsylvania, archaic party rules guaranteed him only 17 delegates. He'll have to wrestle with the other candidates in the field to win over the 54 unpledged delegates. Trump is the only candidate coming into next week's Indiana primary with any momentum. Cruz has pretty much made Indiana his last stand. If he is unable to beat Trump here next week, it's unlikely he will win any of the significant state races yet to be decided.

Lyin Ted just referred to a basketball hoop as a "basketball ring" so no chance he will win Indiana now.
Stunning, absolutely stunning. Grass root, salt of the earth American workers who have been silenced by the crooked crony corporate "faux conservatism" of the elitist Republican party clique are making their voices heard loud and clear.
Indiana will make history next week when we take Trump over the top setting him up for the final stretch.
Stunning, absolutely stunning.
Trump addresses supporters tonight at Trump Towers while Cruz is eating at the Tastee Freeze in Knightstown. In boxing they call that "the tale of the tape".
The tale of the tape has shown us that the ring is 3.048 meters high in Knightstown and throughout the nation. And so goes the battle of the unelectables.
http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/04/ted-cruz-basketball-ring-hoosiers-indiana-gop-primary Yes, but at sectional time no one cuts down the nets from a hoop. They cut the nets down from the Ring or Rim. Back in the day when the game was only in the YMCA hoops were used and the peach baskets too. Both major R candidates are pandering, however, Bob Knight v Hoosier's the Movie is a bit like Hill's fake southern accent when seeking black votes or NASCAR ones.
Cruz has just been eliminated. If he had any class, he'd drop out.
The puppet masters are not finished.
According to the Guardian Newspaper Trump has 949 pledged delegates, Cruz 544, and Kasich with 153. Rubio has 171. 1237 is the number to secure the nomination. The deal that Cruz and Kasich is just proof of collusion which validates Trump's credentials as the Outsider candidate. I have no clue who the anti-Trump forces in the Republican Party think they can put up as an alternate to Trump if Trump does not have 1,237 delegates as convention time. Trump has defeated all the other candidates one after another.
Trump is the only Republican Candidate left standing who could take on Hillary in a debate. Trump has already labeled her as Crooked Hillary which is on the bulls eye. Cruz simply sputters over and over again about his supposed Christian Values.
Flogger, I've become convinced that the puppet masters would rather crash the system than lose power.
Spot on comments by Greg Wright and Flogger. There's no way Cruz can be the GOP candidate now. It is a suicide mission. They will become the new Whigs. I have little doubt the powers that be still want an alternative, but if Trump wins here next week the gig is up. Leon Dixon, I wish I understood people like you. I truly do. Stop deflecting. Your candidate is deeply flawed. It is obvious to most of America now. He struggled to get to 10% in five states last night. Game over for Lyin' Ted. He will not be the candidate. Thank God above! The only question left is will it be Trump or will the GOP cease to exist.
Wish I could be at both the Circle for Trumps' townhall at 4:30 and at 6:00 pm for the rally at the State Fairgrounds. Hope the mayor and the governor protect him and us attendees from the haters by enforcing the anti-protest bill Obama himself signed, to protect those who have been assigned U.S. Secret Service personnel. Soros should be arrested for his paying those ugly-acting demonstrators being allowed to get so close.
Remember the Karl Rove theory spouted by the last Bush about not needing the base? The Establishment likes to control both political parties and, generally does. Does anyone think that Clinton hasn't been purchased? Your usual D goes down for dimes but Clintons have taken looting to a whole new level. Reading Shafley's book one finds a consistent pattern of Establishment control. Goldwater stepped out of line and they had to show their hand. Ronald Reagan stepped over them. As Indiana Republicans showed in the last Senate race, they are quite willing to tank an election. One could almost say the same thing of the national ones, Dole, Romney, McCain had little in common with, say, Senator Taft.
Still, Ted has told me no lies. Hill has lied to the the world repeatedly and often and is delusional....perhaps not so much as the Socialist but still bonkers. The R side has the fellow who just won all 13 of the original colonies but with half, if that, of the intellect of the other candidate. So, it looks like the Stupid Party will be happier with Mr. Trump who, lacking political correctness, is willing to talk to people about issues that concern them without apology to the parasite class that the Establishment actually is. Meanwhile, there is a sale on clothes pins for Indiana Democrats having to vote come May 3rd. The close fitting plastic ones are best for that presidential primary....
